St. Therese Enrollment Increases
In January 2024, principal Steve Vaughan informed the staff of St. Therese Catholic Classical School that they would see a significant increase in enrollment in the coming months. The difficult decision for a nearby Catholic school to close its doors meant that many families would be looking for a new school for their children. The staff was ready to help them through this difficult transition, but they knew that they needed additional support.
“We prayed a lot as a staff, asking the Lord for wisdom and guidance in helping us navigate this transition for the benefit of both our new and returning families,” says Vaughan.
Vaughan knew that many of the incoming families would have a financial hurdle in attending St. Therese and they would need tuition assistance. So, he reached out to Seeds of Hope.
Knowing the value of affordable and transformative Catholic education, Seeds of Hope increased the number of scholarships available for the St. Therese school community. “Nearly 80% of our families receive scholarship assistance. Without the support from Seeds of Hope, Catholic education wouldn’t be possible for many of them,” says Vaughan.
“Many of our students live in single-parent households, or in households where the adults need to work two or three jobs just to make ends meet,” says Vaughan. “Despite these obstacles, our parents still prioritize providing their children with a Catholic education, because they know it is the foundation that will pave the way to heaven for their child.”
“Our parents are truly an inspiration for me – they sacrifice in major ways to send their children to St. Therese,” says Vaughan. Seeds of Hope believes that if a family, regardless of their economic or geographical status, desires a quality, faith-based education, it is the mission and responsibility of Seeds of Hope to make it possible. The good performed by Catholic schools is undeniable, a mission to joyfully educate the whole person and form witnesses who will transform the world.
This school year, St Therese School welcomed 60 new students, bringing their enrollment up to 220 children, preschool through 8th grade
And the additional financial support by Seeds of Hope in grades K-8 for St. Therese families is bearing fruit! Not only is St. Therese school providing a classical Catholic education, but they are also providing an exceptional academic experience. In the 2024 graduating 8th grade class, 100% of students who wanted to continue their education at a Catholic high school were accepted to a Catholic high school of their choice. Additionally, the school will be hosting superintendents from around the country who are interested in seeing how a classical Catholic education can be provided for a diverse community of students.
“Catholic education does not only provide a solid academic foundation, although it does that in abundance, it leads students to all that is True, Good, and Beautiful.” says Vaughan. “Students who receive an excellent Catholic education are sent into the world to be the next generation of saints our world desperately needs.”
If you are interested in helping build up the next generation of saints in our world, please consider making a financial gift to Seeds of Hope to make a K-8 transformative Catholic education an option for Colorado families.
